There is great interest in the Escuela among a group of women in Moca, a city in the northern part of
the Dominican Republic. Two Perlas from Santo Domingo traveled to Moca to get to know them, and plans are
being made to start groups of Perla and Movimiento Sin Aula there.
On the far right is Rita Marte. Rita was the first Perla in Moca and is a loyal friend and co-collaborator with the group.

group in your community!

Four members of Perla were recently on TV promoting the second round of the course, "Being a Woman Today."
They were interviewed on the program, "Juntas de Nuevo" [Together again], hosted by Betty and transmitted by Telecentro,
Channel 13, in the Dominican Republic.
They gave testimonies to the empowering nature of this women-only course and spoke at length about the importance of having a space for women like Perla.
It was a great success!

Perla is a group of women who believes in our own capacities of creating beauty and achieving our goals. We women have come together for the betterment of our quality of life and for the well-being and development of all.
Plenitud, Esperanza, Riqueza,
Libertad and Amor, (Fullness, Hope, Wealth, Liberty and Love) make up the acronym PERLA.
In Perla we learn how to be successful in the many roles that we play as women in society. We grow and flourish as assertive, valiant, intelligent, creative leaders, understanding the capabilities and responsibilities that we have in the birth of a more just and solidary society.
