We are not isolated from the realities around us. For that reason, we need to understand the roots of social injustice so we can contribute to change them, starting in our own lives.
Have you ever asked yourself: Why is there so much poverty? What does the construction of elevated highways and tunnels have to do with the real necessities of people in cities? What should the relationship between doctor and patient be? Who writes history, and from what worldview do they write it?
The Socioeconomic Analysis space of Justicia Global seeks to reflect on our social realities so we are better prepared to participate actively in transforming them.
Here is what some participants of this space are saying:
"Through this group I've been able to realize that the injustices I witness every day in the street, in my workplace, in my university, don't come out of nowhere. Rather, they are small parts of a whole constructed system of inequality. More than that, I've realized I can do something to change things."
"If I cross my arms and decide to live my life ignoring injustice, I'm helping things to continue in the same way they are now. On the other hand, if I pitch in from where I am in the construction of a better world, drawing on forces deeper than myself, I can say I'm fighting for Global Justice."
Join us in the space for Socioeconomic Analysis!
We meet every Thursday evening at 7:00 in the Justicia Global community house, Calle Benigno Filomeno Rojas 153, Zona Universitaria, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. |
