On Friday, January 26 we commemorated the birth of founding father Juan Pablo Duarte with a march, traditional drumming and street theater.

The slogan of the event was, Let us reclaim the history of our organized populace and build in the present a dignified future!

We started at la Puerta de la Misericordia in the Colonial Zone and walked to el Parque Duarte during this commemorative and cultural activity.
This was an intergenerational activity, with participation from ages 2 to 82.
The group of artists of Justicia Global presented a theatrical rendition of Duarte's poetry at la Puerta del Conde. The production included a call to remember the popular struggles of our organized populace, naming several popular leaders such as: Francisco Alberto Caamaño, Mamá Tingó, the Mirabal sisters and others.
We handed out flyers reclaiming Duarte's political thought, his "5 Principles for a Grand Finale". See above the five principles written out on posterboard.
